i don’t get to see live music as often as i’d like to, so the few shows i DO have the time/energy to attend had better be pretty damn good — since i don’t like to waste time/energy, they usually are. last nite i saw aa bondy perform at union hall in park slope. it was handily the best live music performance i’ve ever seen. perhaps even the greatest performance of any kind. this man is a complete and total genius. his music is gorgeous, his lyrics are epic, his presence is utterly mesmerizing. he gets compared to dylan for the folksy/poetic nature of his lyrics, and also bc of his one-man-band-with-a-harmonica-and-a-geetar setup, and you know what? he’s as good as dylan. drop everything and go see him. lineup here.
my one complaint is that he didn’t play this song (my favorite of his, and a song i mushily shared with my girlfriend when we first started dating) last night, so here it is from a performance last year.
